Our 10 supported students shortlisted for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games

Sarah Madeleine en Athlétisme (1500m)

Sarah is a mechanical engineering student at INSA Lyon. Aged 24, she is in the high-level sports section to pursue her career as a 1500m specialist athlete.

French U23 1500m champion in 2020 and vice-champion of France Elite 2023, her goal is to take part in the 2024 European Championships as well as the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. 

Arnaud Gauthier in Beach Volley

Arnaud started beach volleyball in 2014 when he joined INSA, and gradually moved up to the senior category with first European podiums between 2016 and 2018, before joining the world top 20 in 2019. 

He is currently ranked 12th in the world, one year ahead of the Paris Olympic Games, and therefore qualifies on two criteria: top 17 in the world ranking and best French team.

Alice Conrad in Fencing (Épée)

Alice has been fencing since the age of 8, and began competing at a high level when she was 16. For the past 3 years, she has been a member of the elite senior group and is currently competing in the World Cups with a view to being selected for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Her objective is to reach and win a medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics. At the same time, she hopes to obtain a double degree in engineering and architecture from INSA Strasbourg.

Antoine Viquerat in Swimming (Breastroke)

A Master's student in Mechanical Engineering at INSA and French record-holder in the 200m breaststroke, Antoine swam with Racing Club de France until he was 18, when he switched to the TOEC Dolphins thanks to INSA Toulouse.

This year, his sporting objective is to qualify for the Paris Olympics, where he will compete in the 200m breaststroke final and medal in the 4x100m 4-swimming relay.

Lison Gautron in Climbing (Speed)

Lison has been climbing since she was 7 years old and has been training for the speed event for the past 3 years in order to take part in the 2024 Olympics in Paris. Last year, she won a silver medal at the European Cup in Laval. 

Her sporting objective is to qualify for the Paris Olympics. Therefore, she aims to place in the top five at the Olympic Qualifier Series held from May to June 2024.

Tom Campagne in Long Jump

Tom has been practicing athletics since secondary school, when he discovered the discipline by taking part in UNSS competitions with his friends at the time.

Specializing in the long jump, he has won French indoor championship titles in the U18, U23 and once in university categories, as well as an Elites title. This year, his aim is to take part in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, and he's aiming for the final.  

Lucie Tessariol in Swimming (Freestyle)

A member of the small SA Mérignac swimming club near Bordeaux since the age of 11, Lucile has been training with Philippe Lucas at TEAM LUCAS in Martigues since September 2022, while continuing her studies at INSA Toulouse to become an aeronautical engineer.

After being a finalist at the age of 17 at the Tokyo 2021 Olympics in the 4x200 fresstyle relay, her ambition is to continue her high-level sporting career by qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympics in individual and relay events.

Antoine Herlem in Swimming (Backstroke)

Antoine started swimming with the Dunkerque Natation baby swimmers at the age of 6 months, and can now claim to have been swimming for 24 years. He joined the TOEC Dolphins club and INSA Toulouse in order to obtain an engineering degree, while at the same time combining high-level training.

A member of the French team since 2021, he has won 2 French Championship titles and is now hoping to take part in the Olympic 200m backstroke final at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Manon Pennaneac'h en Voile

From the age of 7, Manon was introduced to sailing aboard an optimist. A student at INSA Lyon and bronze medallist at the 2021 Olympic Youth Sailing Games in Oman, she will be taking up the 470, a mixed Olympic discipline for the 2024 Games, at the Pôle France Voile in Marseille in 2022.

Recent vice-champion of France Elite in this discipline with teammate Pierre Williot, her goal is to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. To do so, they will have to finish as the top French crew at the Senior World Championship in Palma de Mallorca at the end of January 2024. 

Agathe Guillemot in Athletics (1500m)

A 5th-year student in civil and urban engineering, Agathe specialized in middle-distance running when she arrived at INSA Rennes in 2017. Having adapted her curriculum to her sporting goals in this Olympic year, she trains at the Haute Bretagne Athlétisme Training Center.

 Champion of France 2023 in the 1500m, Agathe took part in the Senior World Championships in the same discipline. She is less than a second off the qualifying time for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
