Coastal Erosion

  • With 272 inhabitants per km and 6 million residents, coastal areas present major economic, social and human challenges, and are 2.5 times more densely populated than the rest of the country.
  • They are also France's leading tourist destination on three seaboards (Channel-North Sea, Atlantic and Mediterranean) and in the French overseas departments and regions.
  • However, with more than a quarter of France's coastline undergoing erosion, this richness partly accentuates the natural hazards that affect them.

Our projects to combat coastal erosion

Revegetation of the dune cordon

FDD Andurand has embarked on a dune restoration project in partnership with Fondation de la Mer and Office National des Forêts.

FDD Andurand is pleased to announce its participation in the financing of a project aimed at tackling coastal erosion by restoring the dune cordon of a beach on the Atlantic coast (Gironde) in partnership with the Fondation de la Mer and the Office National des Forêts (ONF). The project will preserve 60 hectares of dunes by planting oyats, installing ganivelles and reprofiling the dunes.
